Communication Studies at Concordia

Communication Studies

The sound studios in Communication Studies form part of the complex of media production studios available to undergraduate production students in the programme.
In the first year, students take Sound I in a Macintosh lab with 9 Protools workstations. They are also introduced to location recording techniques with minidisk recorders and microphones that can be taken out overnight from the Equipment Depot.

In Sound II, students are introduced to working in the studio with a separate recording room and multiple microphone setups, as well as analog and digital effects.

In Sound III, students also work with MIDI, samplers and digital mixing.

Students often collaborate with others in the programme, working on soundtracks for film, video, and interactive digital media productions, as well as sound documentaries, radio features, band recording, and audio bricolage.
