Otto Joachim (Düsseldorf, 1910) est un compositeur canadien d’origine allemande. Il a reçu une formation de violoniste. Il est parti en Extrême-Orient pour échapper aux Nazis (1934–49) et s’est établi ensuite à Montréal en tant qu’altiste, professeur, facteur d’instrument et compositeur. Ses compositions, datant pour la plupart de sa période canadienne, incluent des pièces dodécaphoniques, aléatoires, et électroacoustiques. [SONUS.ca, 2003]
Otto Joachim (Düsseldorf, 1910) is a Canadian composer of German origin. Trained as a violinist, he fled the Nazis to the Far East (1934–49), then settled in Montréal as a viola player, teacher, instrument builder and composer. His compositions, mostly dating from his Canadian period, include 12-tone, aleatoric, and electroacoustic works. [SONUS.ca, 2003]
